On October 31, the LARPIC Project successfully concluded after two years of impactful work, supported by the Erasmus+ programme (Project Number: 2022-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000085665). This EU-funded initiative brought together partners from Bulgaria, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Poland, all working toward a common goal: to create a comprehensive tool empowering teachers and youth workers across Europe to engage young people in civic participation and decision-making.

The LARPIC partnership accomplished this goal by developing an extensive Live Action Role Play (LARP) package, designed to motivate young people to actively engage in public affairs. The LARP package includes a scenario, character profiles, and step-by-step game instructions, all paired with a guide and visual materials to facilitate LARP activities and lead post-game discussions. These resources, complemented by videos and a collection of non-formal educational tools, enable educators to ignite young people’s interest in civic life and inspire them to work towards positive societal change.

As part of the project, teachers and educators from the partner countries participated in a training session in Prague, equipping them to implement the “Shadow City” LARP. This immersive activity places youth in a safe, realistic environment where they experience the challenges of civic decision-making. In all participating countries, the project received enthusiastic feedback, underscoring its success and impact. The materials’ adaptability ensures that the LARPIC methodology will continue to be used beyond the original partner countries, with applications not only in active citizenship education but also in other subject areas. All LARPIC resources, available in English and the partners’ languages, are accessible for free on the LARPIC website. This open-access model guarantees that educators and youth workers across Europe and beyond can use the tools to foster a sense of civic responsibility and active participation among young people.

The LARPIC Project’s success and continued influence are testaments to the power of collaboration in creating sustainable, impactful educational resources for youth engagement in civic matters.
